After about 6 months without a laptop, I just bought a new (to me) laptop from someone on Craig's List. I ended up with a Dell D600 with 1GB RAM (and unfortunately a smaller hard drive than I had hoped) for $240. I think it'll be a good computer for what I need it for -- mainly to have a computer when I'm traveling for work and to use to do demonstrations when I'm on the road. It ended up cheaper to get a newer laptop than to replace the hard drive in the one I had (with it's cracks in the monitor hinges and other...issues. Got to spend the morning actually getting things done on the computer at a coffee shop this AM rather than being stuck in the office. Definitely a plus!
Tuesday, my old, dead harddrive and my external HD (with the recovered data) came by UPS, and at this point, I'm back up and running. Now to catch up on all of the phone calls that didn't get made and the appointments that didn't get scheduled for work. Right now, though, I'm off to give blood. Have you given blood recently? If not, why? It just takes about an hour -- and they'll feed you snacks afterwards too!
